The conclusion to our findings
The difficulties of changing an unhealthy lifestyle to a healthier lifestyle are influenced by the way people think. People might live minutes away from a park or a sports centre, but that doesn’t mean that they will exercise. Some people find that they need company because they don’t feel comfortable exercising on their own, or that they are just lazy.
It also comes down to time, some people might be too busy at work or have other commitments and whenever they can get the chance to take a break they wouldn’t want to exercise.
Another barrier would be the family involvement in the diet. If the whole family is involved in a healthy diet, it is more likely to be successful because you have family support and you are not tempted to eat unhealthy food that might still be around the house. The part of the body most affected when adolescents are on fad diets is mainly the mind. They continuously think about what they can’t eat and restrict their body from important nutrients that the body needs to remain healthy. As an effect their face can appear pale, and they won’t have any control over their diet resulting in binge eating and they will end up gaining more weight. The reasons that adolescents starve themselves are because of media giving them false images of what people look like, peer group pressure and low self-esteem.

Matthew Power the Acupuncturist
Matthew Power came to talk to us about acupuncture and Chinese medicine.
He talked about the different terms used in Chinese medicine such as Chi and different approaches to treatment, such as acupuncture, using cups heated by a flame on the body, massaging, and scraping.
Some people react differently to the medicine, as some people can react really quite quickly whereas other people may have to take many treatments before they are cured.
He gave us showbags with really cool pens and brochures.

Thursday
We have done most of the researching work.
We are on the way to put it in a word document so we can send it to the teachers next week.
Hopefully we'll start creating our presentation next week and get cool pictures to add to it.

Guest speakers
You should aim to include more detail in your guest speaker reports. You say you learnt lots from the chiropractor. This does not tell me anything about the speech. What did you learn that you did not know before?
Chiropractor's Visit
This morning we had a chiropractor named Anthony Coxon.
He brought in a spine model and talked about the Nervous System, spine, the brain and all the important things to do with the body.
He was a very good speaker and we learned a lot of things about Chiropractic. I very much enjoyed the speech.
